Barclaycard
Barclaycard have reduced card holders credit limits; in many instances this has been done notwithstanding that there are no issues with the individual card holder’s account.
One standard reply is that the have checked the account history and your Credit File with the Credit Reference Agencies; they state that there outstanding payments to other Financial Institutions to justify the reduction.
In situations where there are no arrears and the statement is inaccurate they need taking to task and compensation sought.
A complaint may be made to the Financial Ombudsman.
Never, in the first instance ask for the limit to be increased again.
Barclaycard are not able to consult your Credit File with a Credit Reference Agency without your permission.
They will be able to consult your Credit file if you request the increase or request any new product!
When you complain they will prevaricate and procrastinate.
Barclaycard have come up with another cynical ploy to make money out of the difficult financial situation that most are facing. Which, after all has been caused by the immoral and unethical behaviour that they and most other financial institutions are guilty of?
They have embarked on yet another money making strategy to take advantage of the public who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances through no fault of their own.
Surely, if they are concerned about the welfare of their customers they would find a way of reducing interest not increasing it!
It is yet further evidence that Barclaycard view their customers with contempt, yet another instance of putting greed before morals and ethics.
It should be noted that it is an opt out, not a opt in scheme; and that the contact number is a 0844 number, another way of filling their coffers.

Thanks for posting Ms. Mockler’s direct number, I’m sick of talking to call centres in india and not being able to resolve my issues – unless it’s on their prompt screen, they can’t help you!
In case it’s any use, rather than filling Barclaycards pockets while on hold on the 0845 number, try the freephone 0800 9177277 – which I found on http://www.saynoto0870.com
